So, uh...hi to all 12-15 of you who actually notice and say things to me. I'm not mad at you I'm just very dead on the inside.

Anyway HERE'S THE NEW ABOUT JAFAX 2018!!!! I'd usually upload pictures but, uh...I went a little nutty this year and took...113. Yeah so I'm just gonna put them into my Sta.sh and y'all can take a look at them that way.
This is the one time of year where waking up before 9 AM makes me wish I was somewhere else. Artist's Alleyway was a bit late I think? I could've sworn it was at 10 instead of 10:30...but yeah I killed time by playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I brought my sister's along this year as well so she could take advantage of the SpotPass. Tonight she found out about the Mii Plaza games and she thinks Find Mii is adorable. (I have to agree with her on that, even if it's my Mii getting placed in a cage on my DS) I actually SpotPassed someone from last year too! :D It also means many more new houses to peek into. I hope mine is...okay. :iconsweatplz:
My first surprise of the day was that there were cute little paper crane mobiles on display on the upper level! They were made by a resident named Stacie Tamaki and it's called tinygami. And seriously it's just sooooo cute and sooooo pretty!

After some exploration I came across the game section...mostly to continue to kill time! Found something called Museca and that was pretty fun! Kinda...hard when I had to twist the pads but still fun! I indulged in my weebish tendencies by playing Bad Apple!!, Senbonzakura, and...a Touhou Project involving Alice and...rainbows??? Iwasn'tsureokay. Fun! And then I got to play PROJECT DIVA AFTER THAT. I'm, uh...kinda bad at it, even on easy mode...but still, got to play Luka Luka Night Fever and Melt, 2 of my favorites! I played a Len song that I never heard of and...all I got was that it involves being in a bird cage. Also came across something called Magequit, which...doesn't have a Wikipedia page so all I can say it to Google it.

And then I found my first cosplay that sparked my interest...a Pikachu suit. It's like those ones in those Pikachu dancing performance in Japan, it's super cute!

And then after filling my time with video games it was time for the artist's alleyway~! I found a Yuri on Ice!!! scroll set for you fans of it. My camera focused on Yurio's butt...bad camera. THERE WERE SO MANY AMAZING THIIIIIIIIINGS. SO. MANY. THINGS. I COULDN'T TAKE COME. BECAUSE OF MONEY. I stayed at the Deosil Designs stall the longest...because it was all original Legend of Zelda content...I regret nothing. Also I might have inspired a booth owner? I came across some cute stack-able plushies of the Eeveelutions and also noticed some cute plushie paopu fruits among some of the LGBT+ pride items on sale there too. I made a technically flippant comment on making queer-themed paopus and...well we'll see next year if that comes to fruition or not.

I met a tiny bird!

At 11 AM there was a panel hosted by Todd Haberkorn. There was a line. I was banished to sitting against the wall. I decided against going to the second panel at 1 PM since that ALSO had a line...

I learned to NOT eat cheesecake on a stick. I know it sounds like a goal there but it's actually harder than you realize, even if you have it covered in that insta-solidification chocolate syrup. Which I did. It was NOT easy as you get to the thicker part of the cut. I...I had to...abandon it into the trash...*Sad music*

I also went to a panel about magical girls! I know that SEEMS like a no duh, "It's just Sailor Moon with different colors and theme" but you'd be surprised...the concept is as old as history and legends themselves. I even got a little booklet from the con for it! It's short so I finished it within a short time and...it DOES bring up some interesting aspects about the genre and the characters you have in them. My only complaint is that...the author/panel presenter ended up mistaken on the relationship between Sailors Jupiter and Uranus. I don't know if that was just his OTP and it altered his memories of the Sailor Moon cast dynamic or it really has been a super long time since he's last seen it. He might've mixed up Beryl with another antagonist that was of a similar story/look/etc too but I can't say for sure.
Afterwords I actually met a customer from my part-time cashiering job! I knew it was here because she has a very distinctive purse she's had when coming in. She was a volunteer worker and got a cute toy for her son!

I need to do research on an old PS2 game called Dark Cloud because the game cover has a kinda blatant Link copy on it. So far it's not a 100% clone but there's still the aspect of a desert-themed villain that has to be taken down by a young boy in green.

PURRLI

Like cats? Like cat purrs? Have a snarky cat that will only purr when they want to? Or maybe just want happy cat noises? Or can't get one because of things like allergies or strict parents? Then Purrli's for you!

[Just click me!]

Ah, seriously, this is just great...excited happy

Now you too can get all the health benefits of cat purrs! "Wait, Gin, there's health benefits to cat purrs?" Why yes, doth thou thinkith I would leadith thee astray with suchith a claim...ith? "Well, you ARE the crazy cat lady in my life, so you'd put cats in a positive light no matter what." ...Got me there, hypothetical conversation. But I promise you, on my honor as a magical girl (in my head at least), it's a legit thing! Just scroll down and read all the stuff people have left behind for why they love it so much. Don't believe me? Just try it yourself at...let's go with 10 minutes a day. See if anything changes!

I can still kinda tell it's computer generated though, but that's because I've lived with Morgan for 10 years. He's my sassy boy, and I am 1 of his 3 mothers, so I'd be more tuned to him.

JAFAX 2017

6 min read
This year, I was not late! :D I was a lil' late to opening last year, just like a proper shounen protagonist. I actually managed to be second in line, as far as I know.

Anyway! Spent at least an hour just exploring, since the vendor's hall wouldn't be open for at least an hour. Things were arranged in a more orderly manner than they were last year. I even got an actual badge this time instead of a tiny piece of paper to put on my wrist like last year! So I hit up the game room to pass the time. The first game (which I didn't get a picture of) was VERY LOUD. LIKE, REALLY LOUD. It was one sort of "hit the buttons to the rhythm and you win" games. Not too hard, but they timed you on character and song selection, which...isn't fun. ^^;

Played some straight-from-Japan stuff, which...well, luckily that's what pictures are for. I couldn't read a thing...the table was the funnest though, due to the end results of flipping it over and out into the crowd of NPCs. Then I found a Wii that had Gamecube controllers and played SUPER SMASH BROTHERS BRAWL. It released in 2008, THAT WAS SO LONG AGO? *Sob* Ah, it was good to play Zelda/Shiek again. :heart: After I trashed some NPCs about, I tried out Mario Kart Deluxe 8 for the Nintendo Switch! Oh my gosh, have you ever seen a Switch in person? When it's in game controller mode, IT'S SO TINY. TINIER THAN ANY GAME CONTROLLER EVER MADE. IT WAS CUTE!? I played as Link on the Master Cycle, and played the Hyrule Circuit. Twice. The tournament was gonna happen soon, so I was like "Oh snap" when a worker came over. There was only one person though, so they figured to wait and I got to play more. I dunno if it actually happened or not...The game room is also where I took my first photo of someone's cosplay! :D
After that, I checked out the tabletop stuff. Got into a long discussion about ren faires because the lady I was talking to worked them. Oddly enough, it started talking about the MLP: FiM-based expy of the Pathfinder series, Ponyfinder. I touched the book. AND, APPARENTLY, HASBRO MADE AN OFFICIAL ONE TOO? I TOUCHED THAT BOOK TOO. It was glorious. I also found out that you can get large Jenga blocks that you can use to play. Just...be careful when they fall, the noises can sound like gun shots on some floor types. o w o;;

Once it was 10, I hit the vendor floor. It was mostly just looking, but some of the stuff there was just SO ADORABLE!! And sometimes creepy. And sometimes both. There was some LGBT+ stuff on sale too (they didn't have this last year, or in very minute amounts), mostly in the form of flags, trinkets and soft things. Apparently there's a 'hidden queer' flag, which I thought was cool and kind of sad. The vendor said that, if someone bought that type when they were in a bad place and couldn't get out of the closet(s??), and emailed them saying they're in a better place, they'd basically exchange the hidden support ones for the ones they want. Cool, right? I...can't find the image online, so all I can say is that it looks like flower petals in many colors against a white background. I even had a lengthy discussion with another vendor about fan things, probably THE most I ever spent at a one stall was with her/them. Also, SOMEONE WAS SELLING MIRACULOUS LADYBUG BUTTONS. I BOUGHT THEM. AND AN OKAMI AMATERASU ONE IN ADDITION. Ladybug and Chat Noir are fist bumping in them, augh my OTP.

After that, I went to panel with David Vincent about the voice acting world. Good news is that the internet has made it easier to send out demos. The bad news is that it doesn't give you feedback or any means to have the director(s) ask you to do different things to see if you fit the role or not. He also really, really, REALLY like entrepreneurship. If anyone's trying to place where they've heard that name before, he's been Robin in the Fire Emblem series. He said it's hard to get a good performance right in the morning, so what he does it sing very badly to country songs on the way to the recording studio. I actually recorded the panel on my iPod, I just...don't know how to share voice memos. ^^;

Pretty much straight after that, I went across the building to listen in on famous Japanese women. The only name I knew right off the bat was Queen Himeko, but that was because of Okami. 8D;; The queen was not born a royal, she earned her title because of her spiritual connections. China adored her, they sent her 100 bronze mirrors! Some others were Murasaki Shikibu (author of The Tale of Genji) Tomoe Gozen (a senpai every femme fatale should look up to) who was a GENERAL, Nakano Takeko (yet another senpai for would-be female heroes) the lady samurai, Sutematsu Yamakawa (the woman with 3 names that left an impact in the east and west), the short-lived Sadako Sasaki who became a symbol of hope, and...I've forgotten the names of the ones from the more recent decades. :iconotlplz: One was the first female moh preformer, another did performances during WWII, the third and fourth are still alive. Politician and astronaut, respectfully.

After that was a sad-looking burger for lunch and more wandering until things started to die down. And here we are.

It's an advertisement for an RP group I'm in. They're opening to let new members in - only for a limited time!

From Sunday, April 16th at 3PM (EST), until Sunday April, 23rd at 11PM (EST)!

:iconmajoras-madness:

Basic plot: it's 100 years after Link ended up with a terrible fate, Termina has gained and lost much in that time. One of the more unfortunate things gain is...Majora themselves! Themselves? Himself? I guess it depends on the person's perspective. Termina is in need of protection once more - but instead of only one hero, now there's more! See which faction you'd fit in - Courage, Wisdom or Power - and go forth to your destiny! Please remember to read through the FAQs, there's important details to mind such as there are limits to certain things such as what species your character can be.

If you join, please do tell! I wanna (try to be the) first to interact with your character! :la:

If you have an idea in terms of looks for your character, but don't know how to draw (traditional or digital) or just can't make anything good period (like myself), there's also an area where you can have someone do it for you. Just remember to credit them on/in the app and the like, thievery is unforgivable!

I bought my character a Fairy and some food for said glowing companion, I kinda need the in-group cash...^^;

Yes, you can buy a Fairy, they're not INSANELY expensive but food and training pile up. They're also elemental-based!
